How we used #BabyShark to generate leads

Everyday in the news and Social Media there will always be something trending.

And over the week or so it has been a children’s video called Baby Shark (Click here if you’ve not seen it before).

Now Baby Shark has been around for a good few years – however the #BabySharkChallenge has been getting a lot of attention.

At L2W Digital we wanted to see if we could “piggy back” on this trending topic. We took the Baby Shark theme and changed the lyrics so that it matched with what our business does – which is generate leads.

At the end of the video we added a Call to Action (CTA) with a free Lead Generation offer.

Most people will be thinking why did we do this given that the target audience will be young children.

The reason for doing this was to target parents who own or work for a small business. These are the people who will most likely be going on to Youtube and putting children’s video on (well that’s an assumption we made).

We’ve setup Facebook Ads campaigns targeting parents who are also a small business owner in the UK, getting a cost per view of £0.02.

We also just wanted to have some fun with it too!

When optimising the video on Youtube we used a mixture of Baby Shark, Lead generation / Facebook Ads hashtags.

Given how noisy social media is – we wanted to try a left-field approach. The total price for the video creation and some Facebook ad spend is only around £100.

Time will tell to see how well this performs (early indications are good with 800 organic views in the first 12 hours, a few new subscribers and website visits too).
